You may have seen a movie or a television show where the judge says “bail set at one hundred thousand dollar!” and maybe you are not exactly sure what this means, or how bail works; with that being said let’s take a look, it’s really not that complicated. Bail is set so that offenders are able to live their lives outside of jail up until the point where they need to show up to court for their trial date. In order to make sure they do not flee the country or not show up, they are permitted to be free up until this point by giving the court a certain amount of money, which they will get back when they show up for their trial date. Once they show up for their court appearances the bail money is then returned back to them. This is how bail works, and now you know!
